The nervous system is a complex communication network made up of nervous tissues. These nervous tissues are found all over the body, but are highly concentrated in the central and peripheral nervous systems.

Neurons and glial (neuroglial) tissues transmit electrical signals called nerve impulses. Nerve impulses zip between neurons, allowing the body to react and respond to different stimuli.
