(MT 30) Medical Histology – DD 1 year, 10 months ago The kidneys have tiny filter units known as nephrons which are tasked with filtering blood through multiple stages matching that of a factory in which two principal steps are involved. The first step is that blood pressure pushes fluids and waste products by pressuring them to get through a filter thus leaving red blood cells alongside proteins behind. This is then followed by another stage whereby, required nutrients and excess water are returned to the blood stream whereas waste products get expelled from the body as urine.
