MT 30 (LAB) – AThe organs of the urogenital system work together to filter blood and produce and excrete urine (Mescher, 2021). The organs of the urogenital system include:
1. Kidneys – these are two bean-shaped organs that are the main actors in filtering blood. They also serve a function in regulating blood pressure as well as stimulating the production of red blood cells
2. Ureters – Each kidney has a tube called a ureter that transports the urine produced into the bladder.
3. Urinary Bladder – The urinary bladder collects and stores urine while awaiting urination. It enlarges in size as it collects more urine.
4. Urethra – This is the tube where urine passes from the bladder to be excreted out of the body. In its middle portion, one can find a sphincter made if striated muscle, which allows us to control the opening of the urethra to release our urine.Mescher, A. (2021).
