MT30 – CC (LEC) 1 year, 7 months ago The nervous system is the body’s command center. It is composed of the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. It communicates by transmitting electrical signals between the brain and the rest of the body. The nervous system monitors what’s happening inside and outside of the body and it determines how to respond to any situation.
The main function of the nervous system is to send messages from various parts of the body to the brain, and from the brain back to different parts of the body to tell it what to do and how to respond. These messages regulate thoughts, memories, learning, and feelings, as well as heartbeat and breathing patterns. It also is responsible for movement, balance and coordination, and senses and body metabolism.
