Is one of the four primary tissue types in the human body, along with epithelial, muscle, and nervous tissue. It is found throughout the body, providing support, structure, and communication between different tissues and organs. The main components of connective tissue are cells, fibers (collagen, elastic, reticular), and ground substance. There are several specialized types of human connective tissue, including loose/areolar, dense irregular, dense regular (tendons, ligaments), cartilage, bone, blood, and adipose (fat) tissue. These tissues vary in their composition and serve different functions, such as providing structural support, facilitating movement, storing energy, and protecting organs.
