MT 30 – A (LAB)Activity 8: Reproductive System 🔬
The reproductive system is responsible for the production of gametes (sperm and eggs) and the development of offspring.
📍Prostate
The prostate is a gland located below the bladder in males, composed of glandular and
muscular tissue. It produces a milky fluid that makes up part of the seminal fluid, which
nourishes and protects sperm. The prostate surrounds the urethra and helps control the
flow of urine and semen.📍Human Placenta
The placenta is a temporary organ that develops during pregnancy, composed of fetal
and maternal tissues. It is attached to the uterine wall and connected to the fetus by the
umbilical cord. The placenta facilitates the exchange of nutrients, gases, and waste
between the mother and fetus, and also produces hormones to support the pregnancy.📍Oviduct (Fallopian Tube)
The oviducts, also known as Fallopian tubes, are a pair of muscular tubes that extend
from the uterus to the ovaries in females, composed of mucous membrane and smooth
muscle. They transport the egg from the ovary to the uterus and provide a site for
fertilization by sperm. The cilia lining the oviduct help move the egg and sperm.📍Secretory Endometrium (Uterus)
The secretory endometrium is the inner lining of the uterus, composed of glandular and
connective tissue. It undergoes changes throughout the menstrual cycle to prepare for
implantation of a fertilized egg. If implantation occurs, the endometrium continues to
develop and becomes the placenta. If no implantation occurs, the endometrium is shed
during menstruation.———————————-
