    Activity 4: The Integumentary System

The integumentary system includes the skin, hair, nails, and glands that produce sweat and oil. It helps protect the body and regulates various essential processes.

Skin – the skin is the largest organ in the human body that serves many functions including protection, sensation, temperature regulation, waste excretion and vitamin D production.

Human scalp – serves as a physical barrier that protects the cranium. In addition to physical defenses, it is important aesthetically. It houses the hair follicles from which the hair is born and ensures its growth.
