The circulatory system, which includes the heart, blood arteries, and lymphatic vessels, depends on circulatory tissue, mostly blood and lymph. Throughout the circulatory system, blood—comprised of platelets, plasma, and red and white blood cells—delivers hormones, nutrition, and oxygen to cells while expelling wastes like carbon dioxide. White blood cell-rich lymph, a transparent fluid that flows through the lymphatic system, is essential to immunological protection and fluid balance. Together, these tissues support the immune system, preserve homeostasis, and guarantee that the body’s cells operate as intended.
