Activity 2C: Muscular System 🔬💪🏼

The muscular system is the biological system responsible for body movements, stabilizing joints, and generating heat for the body. The essential function of muscles is to contract, or shorten, to allow body movements.

I was able to illustrate some of the components of the cardiovascular system after viewing them on the microscope. These were:

🫀 Cardiac muscle lines the walls of the heart. These structures contract to pump blood through blood vessels to all body tissues.

👅 The Tongue contains skeletal muscles that allow its voluntary movement. This voluntary movement is crucial in forming sounds and words, as well as swallowing. 

💪🏼 Striated muscle tissues have striations caused by the arrangement of muscle fibers and the presence of specific proteins such as actin and myosin. This type of muscle tissue can be found in cardiac and skeletal muscles.
