Activity 4: The Integumentary System (Examined Slides)According to Sherrell (2023), the integumentary system and its tissue, functions in the body by preserving homeostasis through protecting the body from harm, damage, and even infection. Combining these tissues foster a union in making sure that the body can regulate and protect the surrounding organs. For example, the skin serves as the body’s first line of defense, guards the interior organs, and helps in temperature regulation. Some of the integumentary system is comprising of the nails, hair, and even oil glands.
Here are two examples of integumentary tissues (frog skin and human palm skin) that I have examined under the microscope during one of our previous laboratory classes.
