Activity 6: The Respiratory System (Examined Slides)In an article posted at Cleveland Clinic (n.d.), the respiratory system functions by making it easier and more efficient for individuals to breathe in carbon dioxide and give off oxygen. The respiratory system also facilitates the capabilities of speech and smelling; like other systems, it also protects the individual from bacteria and other microbial particles. Some organs that make up the respiratory system are the nose, diaphragm, lungs, the larynx or voice box, and others.
Here are two examples of respiratory tissues (bronchiole and trachea) that I have examined under the microscope during one of our previous laboratory classes.
