The respiratory system is a vital biological system responsible for breathing. Its main role is to bring oxygen into the body and expel carbon dioxide, a waste product. This system includes the lungs, airways like the trachea and bronchi, as well as the diaphragm, voice box, throat, nose, and mouth. The airways are divided into upper (nose, sinuses, throat) and lower (larynx, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, alveolar ducts) systems. These organs work together to ensure oxygen is distributed throughout the body and waste gases are removed.
