A mission statement defines an organization’s purpose, what it does, and its overall approach to achieving its goals. A vision statement, on the other hand, describes the desired future state or long-term aspirations of an organization. In short, a vision statement looks to the future and defines aspirations, while a mission statement focuses on the present and defines purpose. Together, a company’s vision and mission can provide a powerful framework for decision-making and ensure that everyone in the organization is working towards the same objectives. Both statements can also work together to establish and maintain a great company culture.
