MT 13 – GH 2 years ago A heart rhythm is the regular sequence of electrical signals that control how the heart beats, ensuring it pumps blood efficiently throughout the body. In a healthy heart, these signals originate from the sinoatrial (SA) node, which acts as the heart’s natural pacemaker. This produces a steady beat, typically between 60 to 100 beats per minute when at rest. If the rhythm is disrupted, it can lead to arrhythmias, where the heart beats too fast (tachycardia), too slow (bradycardia), or irregularly. These irregularities can affect the heart’s ability to pump blood effectively, impacting overall circulation and health. Maintaining a normal heart rhythm is essential for the heart to function properly and keep the body’s organs and tissues supplied with oxygen and nutrients.
