“An IoT-based contactless neonatal respiratory monitoring system for neonatal care assistance in postpartum center”

This study emphasizes the importance of early detection and management of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), a condition responsible for 20–25% of neonatal deaths. Current monitoring methods face issues like sensor detachment and staff shortages, making early intervention challenging. To address these gaps, researchers developed a contactless IoT-based monitoring system that combines computer vision (CV), beamforming microphone arrays (BFMA), and millimeter Wave (mmWave) radar. This system provides accurate, non-invasive respiratory monitoring, reduces errors and interference, and connects to a cloud platform for real-time alerts. Its success in clinical trials highlights its potential to support healthcare providers and improve neonatal care.
