Blood flows into the nephron through the afferent arteriole, which delivers it to the glomerulus for filtration. The filtered blood then exits via the efferent arteriole and enters either the peritubular capillaries (in cortical nephrons) or the vasa recta, which surrounds the loop of Henle in juxtamedullary nephrons, facilitating reabsorption and secretion. From there, the blood continues its path through larger veins (arcuate and interlobar veins) before finally returning to circulation via the renal vein.
