    “The Nephron”
The nephron is the kidney’s functional unit. Millions of nephrons make up each kidney, and they are crucial to the filtration and purification of blood. The glomerulus and renal tubule are the two parts of the nephron, which aids in the body’s elimination of extra waste. The blood enters the Glomerulus, a small knot of veins, through the arterioles at extremely high pressure. The nephrons are where they are found. Blood flows into arterioles that wind around the nephrons as the blood pressure decreases from the glomerulus. These then link to a number of tiny veins.
