The article talked about the 3 types of fibers, enumerating what these are —collagen, elastic, and reticular fibers— and what they do in the body. Afterwards it continued to focus on the most abundant protein in our body which is collagen. It talked about how taking in food that are rich in vit c, zinc, copper, glycine, and proline can help with collagen production and how different forms of collagen supplements are helpful in treating various concerns in our body. I found it fascinating that collagen can actually help with weight loss by suppressing hormones for our appetite like ghrelin. There was also a portion that mentioned how there is not enough research done with collagen supplements so it’s great that the article made it clear that although it does have numerous benefits, it is important to consult with a physician before deciding to intake collagen supplements.
