Through this article I was able to visualize the fibroblast and just why it is one of the most abundant and important cells found in connective tissue. The fibroblast is responsible for producing the proteins of the extracellular matrix which are present in connective tissues in varying degrees.these proteins include collagen and elastin. I was also interested in a few other parts of the article that talked about the process of collagen synthesis, how fibroblasts heal wonds by generating contractile forces to close the injury, and what will become of fibroblasts when a person ages. All of these gave me a better understanding of the vital function of fibroblasts in our bodies and it also gave me a few ideas on how I could help these structures function better.
