Mt 13 DD (LEC) – Year Level 1 8 months, 2 weeks ago The image shows the structure of a mitochondria. It has a double membrane structure: the outer membrane and innner membrane where the cristae is located, the folded structure in the inner membrane. Mitochondria is one of my favorite organelle in the human body because it is the powerhouse of the cell. It produces energy in your body in the form of ATP which helps you think, breath, move, and heal. Fun fact about mitochondria is that it has its own DNA known as the mtDNA or mitochondrial DNA. This DNA comes only from one egg cell so it means that it is inherited exclusively from our mother. It also helps the mitochondria in producing more proteins to generate energy making the mitochondria not just a powerhouse but also an independent cell.
