Mt 13 DD (LEC) – Year Level 1 1 year, 1 month ago What is the Nervous System?
The nervous system is a highly complex network of specialized cells and organs that coordinate the body’s actions and sensory information by transmitting signals to and from different parts of the body. It is divided into two main parts:
• The central nervous system (CNS), which includes the brain and spinal cord, and
• The peripheral nervous system (PNS), which connects the CNS to the rest of the body through nerves. The nervous system is responsible for regulating vital functions such as movement, sensation, thought, emotion, and homeostasis. It uses electrical impulses and chemical signals to communicate between different body regions, making it essential for survival and interaction with the environment.
