It has three main parts: the cell body (soma), which contains the nucleus and maintains the cell; dendrites, which receive incoming signals from other neurons; and the axon, a long extension that carries impulses away from the cell body to other neurons, muscles, or glands. Neurons communicate with each other at junctions called synapses, allowing the brain and body to process and respond to stimuli.
