    Duodenum Human, c.s.

This is an example of a smooth muscle tissue. It contains a spindle shaped, fusiform muscle cell having one nucleus on the middle or the broadest portion of the cell. This is non-striated, involuntary and can usually be found in visceral organs such as blood vessels. Smooth muscles are specialized for slow, steady contractions under the influence of autonomic nerves and various hormones.
