I am a girl and I experienced being discriminated because of my gender. I’m picking the SDG5: Gender Equality. I strongly agree that we can do all things whether you are a male, female, or part of the LGBTQ community. Gender discrimination should end now because every human has equal rights and opportunities for their everyday life. For example, a man can do household chores that the society made us think that household chores are only for women. On the other hand, women can also do construction works where mostly men usually work there. In the past, women were just housewives and they didn’t have the chance to go to school or to find a better profession because they were destined to be someone’s wife and they should manage their home. The men were the ones who will work to provide for the family and it has given them the right to decide for their family. This mindset is all long gone because the past generations and the present generation fought hard for gender equality that women can work too and provide the needs of the family and men can do household chores without being tagged as “under” or “gay” by the society. Both genders now have access to the same resources that they need in order to survive. This day, I know that there’s still a practice of gender inequality in some places and I hope and pray that this will end as soon as possible because we are all human.

Silliman University is a huge university that consists of several departments. There are only a few events that can help the different departments unite. Tala which was sang by Sarah Geronimo became famous in the year 2019 and a lot of people took videos and posted it online. Silliman University Student Government accepted the challenge which is the #TalaNation and students from different departments joined. They danced in front of the SU Church and took videos and they posted it online. The reason behind this event is to promote and share steps to go Zero Waste and have a low environmental impact I am happy knowing that all departments can unite without competing with each other.
