Growing up in El Nido, I had always been aware of the importance of the life below the waters that we enjoy swimming in. Life Below Water is something that I can really work for in my lifetime. I believe that as much as other things are important, maintaining the life below water is also necessary since we all are interconnected, meaning one affects others.
The following are the key targets of this area: reduce marine pollution, protect and restore ecosystem, reduce ocean acidification, sustainable fishing, conserve coastal and marine areas, end subsidies contributing to overfishing, increase the economic benefits from sustainable use of marine resources, increase scientific knowledge, research, and technology for ocean health, support small scale fishers, and implement and enforce international sea law. Obviously, we are still facing a lot of problems regarding our oceans. We have to remember that there is also life aside from ours and we need to respect that as well. We should not be greedy and just think for ourselves, but also for our future generations. Because their life will depend on what was left for them.
