Dr. Angel Alcala who was the recipient of Ramon Magsaysay Awardee for Public Service and 15th Most Trusted Filipino was a Marine Scientist who graduated in the course of B.S. Biology in Silliman University. His two main significant contributions was the establishment of the country’s first marine sanctuary, and the building of the Philippines’ first artificial reef, now a model for dozens of others.
