The American missionary physician Henry Langheim founded the Dumaguete Mission Hospital in 1903, operating under the Presbyterian Foreign Mission Board from the United States. This makes it the second oldest American-founded hospital in the nation, behind CPU–Iloilo Mission Hospital (founded 1901) in Iloilo City, which serves as the university hospital for Central Philippine University, Silliman’s sister school.[2][3]
