The reproductive system ensures the survival of the species. Other systems in the body, such as the endocrine and urinary systems, work continuously to maintain homeostasis for the survival of the individual. An individual may live a long, healthy, and happy life without producing offspring, but if the species is to continue, at least some individuals must produce offspring.

Endometrium. Has specialized mucosa that whenever menstruation occurs, undergoes marked changes.
Myometrium. It is composed of three smooth muscle indistinct layers. The Inner and Outer Layers often have longitudinal bundles of smooth muscle. And, the middle layer/stratum vascular is the thickest layer having circular or spiral bundles of smooth muscle with many blood vessels.
Perimetrium. This layer is covered with an outer serous layer or visceral peritoneum at the outer region. However, in this Uterus menstrual phase specimen, it is not visible.
