Cardiac muscle tissue is only found in the heart. Highly coordinated contractions of cardiac muscle pump blood into the vessels of the circulatory system. Similar to skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle is striated and organized into sarcomeres, possessing the same banding organization as skeletal muscle.

The majority of the muscles in your body are skeletal muscles, which found throughout our body – in between our bones. Skeletal muscles are voluntary muscles, meaning you control how and when they move and work.

Smooth muscle makes up your organs, blood vessels, digestive tract, skin and other areas. Smooth muscles are involuntary. The autonomic nervous system controls them.
