The larynx is a short air passage located between the pharynx and the trachea. Its wall has skeletal muscles and cartilage pieces which makes it good for sound production.
The lining of the trachea is made up of typical respiratory epithelium (ciliated columnar epithelium). Beneath the lining, we can find the lamina propria’s connective tissue and seromucous glands and submucosa.
The type of epithelium you can find in bronchioles varies depending on their size. In large bronchioles, you can find folded respiratory epithelium (RE) along with smooth muscles and fibrous connective tissues. Small bronchioles have simple cuboidal epithelium instead of the typical RE.
