The organ system responsible for your breathing and the one that provides functional ability of your lungs is the respiratory system. It is composed of organs and tissues including airways and blood vessels. Chiefly, its role is to regulate the oxygen coming inside the body and carbon dioxide going out for cleansing.
Here are three parts of the respiratory system (presented in the histology art photo above):
a. Lungs – the lungs is responsible for placing oxygen in blood which will be circulated throughout the body
b. Trachea – connects throat and lungs
c. Larynx – also known as the voice box, this is where the vocal chords is found and is for breathing, swallowing and talking
