In the traditional Larong Pinoy game Tug of War, victory depends on one thing: raw muscular power. The tissue working the hardest in this moment is skeletal muscle, the tissue responsible for strong, voluntary movements that allow players to pull the rope with force and endurance. In my artwork, I transformed the tug-of-war rope into skeletal muscle tissue, where the twisted strands represent bundles of muscle fibers (fascicles). The visible striations, muscle fibers, and connective tissue layers like the endomysium and perimysium highlight the real microscopic structures that make powerful pulling possible.
