Its has a characteristic striped appearance due to the repeating arrangement of sarcomeres, the contractile units within muscle fibers. These fibers, called myofibrils, exhibit alternating light and dark bands reflecting the organized distribution of actin and myosin proteins responsible for muscle contraction. The frog tongue is a muscular organ composed primarily of interwoven bundles of striated muscle fibers oriented in various directions. These fibers provide the power for the tongue’s forceful protrusion and retraction during feeding.
