The Animal Cell
The cell is the fundamental and smallest biological unit of living things, serving as both its structural and fundamental unit. Thus, I drew the animal cell as a lego to represent that cells are the “building blocks” of organisms.
The cell is made up of the nucleus, with the nucleolus and chromatin. Other parts include the plasma membrane, cytoplasm, mitochondria, smooth and rough ER, vacuole, ribosomes, golgi apparatus, lysosome, centrioles, and microtubules.
These parts work together to serve their function. Cells provide animal structure and allow animals to move. They also take nutrients and transform them to energy. They are able to self-replicate. They also contain the genetic material of the organism.
