Hi! I found an article in https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ regarding the histology of the circulatory system. This is the APA citation of the said article:

Taylor A. M. & Bruno Bordoni, B. (2022, May 8). Histology, Blood Vascular System. National Library of Medicine. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK553217/

    • I looked back on how the circulatory system is among the basic knowledge taught to us since childhood, such as artery goes away from the heart and veins go towards the heart. We are taught about the primary organs and the vessels involved, but there is more than meets the eye when it comes to its histology. With suitable stains at hand and appropriate equipment for light or electron microscopes, we can dive deep into the microscopic parts of the cardiac system. Reading the article made me realize the significance of our role as future medical technologists in assessing significant parts of the system. It is not enough that we can identify their parts but also how they function together. Medical advancements have created standards for what is expected and what is not; thus, this makes the identification process more manageable. The pathophysiology that we learn about the circulatory system makes the study of abnormalities upon assessment more reliable. We need to have a keen eye and be cautious of the minor details that are not in place or behaving as expected.
