I believe that a Sillimanian is a student that is always confident in oneself, reliable to others, faithful to God, and striving to be better. I am proud to study in Silliman University, because the people I surrounded myself with have helped me to build my character as a person. I believe that the mental aspect of a person is having the capacity for thinking, feeling, and making decisions, as well as having unique personality traits and being emotionally balanced. Being empathetic and able to cope or conquer life’s challenges can also determine the mental aspect of a person.

Reflection on Silliman University’s Motto: “Vias, Veritas, Vita,”

The motto is in Latin and it translates to: “The Way, The Truth, The Life.”
It is a reference to a verse from the Bible in Gospel of John 14:6, where Jesus says, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” The motto signifies the university’s Christian foundation and values, highlighting the importance of faith and spirituality in education.
The motto also represents the university’s commitment to providing quality education that leads students on the right path (the way), imparts knowledge and truth (the truth), and helps them lead meaningful and purposeful lives (the life).
The use of Latin in the motto adds a touch of tradition and academic sophistication, which is common in many educational institutions worldwide.
