Activity 6 (The Urinary System) – Slide Pictures

The urinary system filters blood to produce urine, which serves as a waste by-product. Its components comprise the kidneys, renal pelvis, ureters, bladder, and urethra.
    1. Urinary bladder – This triangular-shaped, hollow organ resides in the lower abdomen. Its walls can relax and stretch to accommodate urine storage, then contract and flatten to expel urine through the urethra.
    2. Frog kidney AND 4. Frog Kidney section – They are located below the ribs in the back, and have important key roles in the body: removing waste and drugs, balancing fluids, regulating blood pressure hormones, and controlling red blood cell production.
    3. Ureter Mammal – The ureters are slender tubes that transport urine from the kidneys to the bladder. Muscles within the walls of the ureters contract and relax rhythmically to propel urine downward, away from the kidneys.
