The seminiferous tubules, which create sperm, account for over 90% of the testicular mass. Tubules are simple in young males, consisting of immature sperm-producing cells (spermatogonia) and Sertoli cells.
A complex stratified epithelium lines the seminiferous tubules, containing two unique populations of cells: spermatogenic cells, which develop into spermatozoa, and Sertoli cells, which provide support and nutrition.Sources:
