Photo: bright field preparation of the seminiferous tubule showing its tall Sertoli cells in brown

Located in the testicular lobules, seminiferous tubes have a spermatogenic epithelium, with germ cells and Sertoli cells. These tubes are supported by loose connective tissue and myoid cells and they function to produce sperm in the male reproductive system. Seminiferous tubules belong to the group of male genital ducts. Other male genital ducts are ejaculatory ducts, ductus (vas) deferens, epididymal duct, efferent ductules, Rete testes, and straight tubules (tubuli recti).
