Medium: Color pencil
Description: 📚
The reproductive system are groups of organs that enable reproduction. The structures and functions are different in males and females. The male reproductive system consists of the testes, vas deferens, prostate, and penis. Their primary goal is to produce sperm, mature it, and deliver it to the vagina. The female reproductive system on the other hand is composed of the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, and vagina. Their function is to produce female gametes, facilitate fertilization, and support the development of the fetus.
Portrayed tissues: 🎨
The penis (1) is the sex organ of men. This is a highly vascularized structure and has special tissues that allow it to enlarge.
The testis (2) is an egg-shaped organ that is covered by the scrotum. It produces sperm and testosterone.
The cervix (3) is also called the “neck of the uterus.” The cervix epithelia is composed of both stratified squamous and columnar epithelia.
Lastly, the epididymis (4) is a coiled duct where the sperm are stored and finish maturing.
Note: All drawings were based on the microscopic images provided by our instructor except for the testis (2) and epididymis (4). The drawings are based on the online sources listed below.
