    Activity 2C: Muscle Tissue

Muscle tissue is a specialized type of animal tissue composed of cells called muscle fibers
that can contract and relax, enabling movement.

    📍Mammal Heart

The mammal heart is a specialized organ that contains cardiac muscle tissue, which is
responsible for pumping blood throughout the body. Located in the thoracic cavity, the
heart is a striated muscle that is involuntary and under the control of the autonomic
nervous system. It is composed of cardiomyocytes, which are striated muscle cells that
are connected to each other through intercalated disks, allowing for coordinated
    contractions to pump blood effectively.

    📍Striated Muscle Longitudinal

Striated muscle tissue, also known as skeletal muscle, is found in the skeletal system and
is responsible for voluntary movements. It is composed of long, multinucleate muscle
fibers that are attached to bones and skin. These fibers are striated due to the regular
arrangement of contractile proteins (actin and myosin) and are capable of contracting and
    relaxing to produce movement.

    📍Striated Muscle Cross Sectional

Striated muscle tissue, when viewed in cross section, displays a characteristic striated
pattern due to the arrangement of actin and myosin filaments. This striation is caused by
the regular arrangement of sarcomeres, which are highly organized structures of actin,
myosin, and other proteins. The striations are visible under a microscope and are a
distinguishing feature of skeletal muscle tissue.
