How does Nephron work?

Nephrons do three key things: filter, re­absorb, and secrete. The first step, filtration, happens at a place called the glomerulus. Here, blood gets filtered and turns into “initial filtrate.” Next, we have reabsorption, when essential stuff from the filtrate gets put back into the blood. Lastly, the­re’s secretion is when things like drugs or too many ions get moved from the blood to the filtrate. All these steps work together to keep our body’s liquid level, e­lectrolyte amount, and acid/base balance in check.
