A research article caught my attention!!

The study is entitled Growth and Intellectual Abilities of Six-Year-Old Children with Congenital Heart Disease. Children does not deserve to suffer from these kinds of complications. However, it is just heart warming that no matter how complicated their conditions are, they are still fighting and doctors around the world are doing their best to help them. This study revealed how children with congenital heart disease develop and grow. Results showed that physical developments can be all normal however, growth measure declined until their first surgery with a catch-up growth until 6 years for height but not for weight. Children undergoing univentricular palliation showed poorer height growth than other types of CHD. Lower IQ at 6 years was independently predicted by lower HC at birth, lower socioeconomic status, older age for their first bypass surgery, and lower length of ICU stay.
