Activity 5: DIGESTIVE SYSTEM 🔬

❕Digestive system is a group of organs that work together to break down food into simple nutrients and absorb them into the bloodstream for energy, growth, and cell repair.

❕Appendix is attached to the cecum in the digestive system. The appendix may act as a reservoir for beneficial gut bacteria, and it also secretes mucous and expels its contents into the cecum.

❕Stomach plays a crucial role in the breakdown and processing of food. It initiates the digestive process and deliver nutrients to the small intestines.

❕Esophagus is a muscular tube transports food and liquids from the mouth to the stomach.

❕Epiglottis seals off the windpipe during swallowing to prevent food and liquid from entering the lungs.

❕Tonsils help fight infection by trapping bacteria and viruses that enter the body through the mouth or nose.

❕Tongue is located in the oral cavity that plays a crucial role in various functions, including tasting, chewing, swallowing, and speech.

❕Parotid gland is one of the three major salivary glands in the body. It is responsible for producing saliva.

❕Urinary bladder stores and empties out urine from the body in a coordinated manner.

❕Gallbladder stores and concentrates bile to help break down fats in the digestive process.

❕Liver is a vital organ that performs numerous functions essential for maintaining overall health and well-being.
