    HUMAN TISSUES

    Epithelial tissue
    Epithelial tissue is a type of tissue that covers the outer surface of your body and lines its organs and cavities. It also forms glands that release substances such as sweat and mucus.
    Epithelial tissue has three main functions:
    Protection: Epithelial tissue protects the underlying tissues from physical and chemical injury. For example, the skin, which is made up of epithelial tissue, protects the body from harmful substances and pathogens.
    Secretion: Epithelial tissue in glands secretes substances such as hormones, enzymes, and mucus. For example, the stomach lining contains epithelial cells that secrete gastric acid to help digest food.
    Absorption: Epithelial tissue in the intestines and lungs absorbs nutrients and gases from the environment. For example, the lining of the small intestine contains epithelial cells that absorb nutrients from digested food.

    Connective Tissue
    Connective tissues are the body’s architectural marvels, providing scaffolding, support, and structure to our organs and tissues. They also act like the body’s glue, binding different parts together. There are various types of connective tissue, each with a specialized function. For instance, bone provides a rigid framework, while cartilage offers flexible support at joints. Blood, another type of connective tissue, transports essential nutrients and oxygen throughout the body.

    Muscle Tissue
    Muscle tissue is the specialized tissue in our bodies that allows us to move. It is found in our muscles, organs, and even blood vessels. Muscle tissue contracts to generate force, which is essential for all kinds of movement, from blinking to running a marathon. There are three main types of muscle tissue: skeletal, smooth, and cardiac. Each type has a unique structure and function.

    Nervous Tissue
    Nervous tissue is the complex control center of our body. Made up of specialized cells called neurons, it gathers information from the internal and external environment through senses like sight and touch. Neurons then transmit electrical signals throughout the body, coordinating muscle movements, regulating organ function, and enabling us to think, feel, and learn.
