What is the respiratory system and how does it work?

The respiratory system is a collection of organs and tissues that assist in breathing. Your airways, lungs, and blood arteries are all part of it. The respiratory system includes the muscles that power your lungs. These components collaborate to transport oxygen throughout the body and remove waste gases such as carbon dioxide.

What is the function of the respiratory system?

The respiratory system serves a variety of purposes. It does more than only assist you in inhaling and exhaling.

    – Allows you to communicate and smell.
    – Warms the air to your body temperature and moisturizes it to the appropriate humidity level.
    – Delivers oxygen to your body’s cells.-
    – Exhaling removes waste gases from the body, including carbon dioxide.
    – Protects your airways from irritants and hazardous chemicals.
