Connective tissues are several body tissues that connect, support, and help bind other tissues. It plays a vital role in various bodily functions, such as providing support to organs and cells, facilitating the transport of nutrients and wastes, defending against pathogens, storing fat, and aiding in damaged tissue repair. It primarily consists of an extracellular matrix and a limited number of cells. Most connective tissues are composed of ground substance, fibers, and cells, although blood and lymph are specialized fluid connective tissues without fiber. And, it is largely organized into subcategories based on its nonliving components such as loose and dense connective tissues, adipose, cartilage, bone, blood, and reticular tissues.Reference/s:
