    The LIS role is to manage and record the patient’s data, to improve and create a smooth workflow in the hospital for the laboratories to run correct testing for the patient, for efficient business processes, and lastly, to balance and maintain the workloads of the laboratories.
    Having good and improved data management will be beneficial for the hospital, as it will increase its laboratory potential. It allows easy access to data and information and lets the lab workers stay connected within the LIS.
    The LIS helps in mitigating errors and is essential in facilitating collaboration, accuracy, and organization. It can help in avoiding delays in vaccine or product deliveries that could be urgently needed.
    Three major components of the LIS are Sample Tracking, Protocol Execution, and Storage Organization. Its core is to provide a system for tracking, standardizing, organizing, and centralizing all data, procedures, and tasks that occur in a laboratory.
    Its primary duty is to follow a sample from the moment it enters a laboratory until it is tested and stored. It also keeps track of the personnel that have interacted with a sample and where it has been over its lifecycle.
    The secondary duty is Protocol Execution, it ensures that every laboratory worker is following the specified steps in a published SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) while processing a sample is crucial to producing an accurate and consistent result.
    The last main duty of the LIS is Storage Organization, it keeps track of all the samples and its history throughout the beginning up to when it is stored. Lab workers can immediately locate any sample they need.
    A laboratory would be very disorganized if there was no sample tracking, each medical technologist will be carrying out tests in different methods. Consequences of this is an increased risk of errors, missing results, and difference in data collected can cause mistakes.
    A LIMS is a crucial tool for giving the lab information on all the inventory of materials and what might need to be ordered in the future. Documents can be shared, commented on, and annotated by the lab workers.
    Laboratory test results can be recorded and then sent through the appropriate approval queue, and then distributed to the necessary team members through reports. This structured process ensures accuracy of data and contributes to the overall effectiveness of lab operations.
    The LIMS keeps track of where the sample tube or vial is kept in. Following that, the system also keeps track of the drawer, which box the samples are in, and which shelf the rack is on and which room the freezer is in.
    A sample can be allocated through the proper protocol as soon as it enters a laboratory with the help of LIMS software, which can manage test assignments and entrust them to the lab workers.
    The laboratory management system is essential in every medical laboratory. Researchers may manage all this data in a single functional LIMS software, centralizing all the data for more effective data management.
