Each testis is a 5 cm long and 3 cm in diameter oval structure. The tunica albuginea, a thick, white fibrous connective tissue capsule, covers each testis and continues inside to form septa that divide the organ into lobules. Each testis contains roughly 250 lobules.

Branching ducts and terminal secretory lobules make up the glandular tissue of the mammary gland. Each of the 15 to 20 lobes is served by a lactiferous duct. Before opening separately into the nipple, these ducts expand to form the lactiferous sinus.
