MT30 – HA simple cuboidal epithelium is a one-layered cell with a structure similar to a cube. These epithelial cells are used for absorption and secretion in tissues such as kidney tubules and glands. The primary function of your cuboidal epithelium is absorption and secretion due to its large surface area, which enables the substances to move freely. Moreover, your nerve fibers are non-myelinated, and myelinated axons can be seen in cross-section (Peripheral Nerves | Nervous Tissue, n.d.). Non-myelinated are known to move gently or slowly, whereas your myelinated hastened actions with thick insulation. These are the ones that transmit electrical impulses, enabling cell-to-cell communication to spread throughout the entire human body. They are the carrier of action potentials in our body that allows our body to respond or react to certain stimuli.
